Pécs - population 160 000, situated in southern Hungary. Nominated European Capital of Culture for 2010, with a long musical and choral tradition at the heart of Central Europe, it’s here that the male vocal group Unicum Laude was created in 1994. From sopranista to basso profundo, six brilliant soloists, specialists in vocal polyphonic technique, who treat music for small ensembles as both a challenge and a great opportunity to use their voices to create original and personal interpretations. Their diverse repertoire invites the audience to discover less-known compositions, as well as treating them to new adaptations of old standards. Whether it’s religious music of the Renaissance or fresh arrangements of classic pop and jazz songs, they produce a unique recipe of musical colour, with warmth in every spoonful.
